Impact on our community
You don't need a student in WWS for this to affect you.
School funding decisions ripple out past the classroom:
Homeowners — Home values: School quality is one of the biggest factors buyers weigh when choosing a neighborhood — strong schools tend to support resale value.
Local business — Workforce & hiring: Companies deciding where to locate or relocate look at local school quality when recruiting employees with families.
Neighbors & renters — Shared spaces: WWS facilities host 140+ community organizations and rentals — gyms, fields, and auditoriums Westfield residents can use whether or not they have kids in school. Without added funding these rentals/space use create an outsized burden on our schools.
Future residents — Community growth: Westfield's continued growth depends partly on staying a place families want to move to — properly funded and excellenct schools are a large part of that draw.
Taxpayers — Where your dollars go: This funding stays local and is spent in Westfield, on Westfield schools to benefit our students, talented teachers, and overall community — it isn't redistributed statewide.
Everyone — Property tax stability: Districts that lose local funding this way often return to voters again sooner. A Yes now is meant to stabilize WWS through the 8-year life of this referendum.
